Painting on Silk

First post in 2012 !
I am glad I am writing a post in Jan. It's never too late to start :-)

With the much hyped movie on Silk, the Dirty picture has been making headlines.
But here I am, trying my hands on Silk Painting for the first time. I am so excited to share my experiments over the weekend with all of you.

There are several kinds of silk available in the market. The one that I bought is from the very own 'Silk house' in South Bangalore. This one is not a flowy material to work with. But the shine is what caught my eyes.

The off white, creamish color of this silk is so breath taking. Very raw, very inviting. The colors just run and dance giving it various textures as it seep into the silk threads.

I have tried a simple motif here to get an idea how colors can be used. I chose the metallic colors and the bright ones to start with. It gives a wonderful contrast and a rich feel to the art.

Want to do more under project 'silk'.Trying to get my hands on silk dyes on some soft silk soon.Will post them as I experiment :-)
